Last minute changes: the speaker emergency

There has been a lot going on today. After handling the tricky situation this morning, the MUN team had even more on their plates with a speaker cancelling his visit. ‘When the second speaker cancelled we were stressed, to say the least’ said Julia V. who is the secretary general. The guest that was set to speak at today’s assembly cancelled last minute, leaving everyone in the dark.

Everyone put all their efforts into finding someone to fill in. Fortunately, the Mexican embassy was able to save the day. ‘We contacted the Mexican embassy and they kindly said yes’. Lorelee Arias Vázquez  is head of cultural affairs and will come to speak at this afternoon’s assembly.

When asked what they got out of the situation Julia said: ‘It’s always disappointing to have to see people cancel but it has taught us a lot. We need to remember that those kind of things happen and you can only try your best to be ready for it’.

We’re glad the situation got resolved and we are looking forward to hearing speech this afternoon.
