Christmas Generosity – The Shoebox Appeal

Preparing the shoeboxes

Jonas M., Reporter

A few 11th graders decided to make Christmas  merrier for those less fortunate than themselves. The idea of the activity was to fill up shoe boxes with various goods and then give it to an organisation that distributes them around Christmas. We collected various items, like hygiene products, colouring books and clothing which we filled the boxes with. The items had to be new, not second hand, because they would go to people who never get anything new.

The 11th graders collected the items until the last day of school before the winter break. They translated and put up the list of items around annexe C. They also have talked to all the students during their registration about the project a few days before the delivery.

At first the project met with difficulty, because we didn’t get that many items to fill up the shoeboxes with. Overall though, we managed to get enough to fill up around 10 boxes. Grade 10 participated in this project as well, and filled as much as 50 boxes.

The presents that students at SIS wrapped up and delivered to Stadsmission made a difference for many people. It was nice to see that people helped make Christmas a wonderful and magical event for everyone.
