As the new school year has begun so have the preparations for this year’s Nepal Trip!

The Nepal Group has been busy since the beginning of school preparing various events and fundraisers to raise money needed for the Shila Devi School. One of the events is the Donation Drive; these past two years students were asked to donate toiletries and shoes since resources for the Nepalese kids in this school are scarce.

Last year’s trip allowed the Nepal group to see, and report back to the rest of the school, that the shoes had come in very handy for the 60 students of the school. They also implemented a health class using all of the toiletries that were donated by the students. They taught them things such as how to wash their hands and brush their teeth properly with songs and demonstrations.

For this year, the drive is focusing on winter apparel; this includes sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves and even jackets if VERY small. Keep in mind that the students and teachers going on the trip have limited packing space. Anything that you have around the house that you do not use anymore could be very helpful for these kids!
