M.U.N Begins

MUN starts

The highly anticipated SISMUN has finally begun this morning! Both delegates from SIS, and other schools such as Oslo  International School, Esbjerg International School, Osterbro International School,

Despite this, all committees are now busy woking and the scene is set for the biggest MUN conference that SIS has seen yet.  Everyone looks smart in their business attire and you could almost believe that you are at the United Nations if it wasn’t for the young age of the participants.  It’s amazing to think that in a few years time, some of these very delegates might really be members of a UN committee.  Model MUN is a great way to learn the skills for future diplomatic roles.  As MUN begun, SIS delegates were supposed to attend registration before joining their committees. There were a few glitches with this as people were so taken up with the excitement of the day and wanting to get started. We spoke to the Head of Logistics, Aaron L, who was busy trying to locate all delegates for security concerns. He said, “Currently it’s a bit stressful, but it’s nothing we can’t handle.” Aaron is one of the  people working behind the scenes to make sure MUN goes as smoothly as it can.

The theme of this year is the future of Europe. Different committees will be discussing issues along the lines of Gender Equality to Brexit to Syria. We hope discussing these issues will mean that the future politicians or diplomats who come out of this program have a better understanding of these issues, and in the future might be able to make a difference.
