Gender Equality
In with the long list of exciting and meaningful clubs in DP, the Gender Equality Association is especially significant! Initiated by Olivia W. in grade 11, the Gender Equality club is all about advocating gender equality for students. In the SIS community, with people from all around the world, students have different opinions and backgrounds making the club and raising awareness of women’s rights even more important. The Quirky Quibbler got the chance to attend a meeting, that the club holds every Thursday, and find out about the club and future projects.
Within the association there are different groups, as seen in the photos above! The Website Team, the Video Team, the Fluid Creative Board Team, the Facebook/Social Media Team, the Poster Team and the Article Team.
John and Erik in 11th grade are in the Video Team and they are working hard to create a film about the club and about women’s rights in general.
Currently, the club is focusing on a campaign for the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund in Uganda and raising money for that. The club is also working on merchandise, in the form of t-shirts, that they will be selling order to raise more money as well as awareness of the club and the global issues. You will be able to buy the shirts around school. A website is also in the works so keep an eye out for that!
The Gender Equality Association is a perfect way involved in the SIS community and the same time raise awareness of global issues!
