Yohan K’s account of the Spanish Language trip to Zaragoza – first in Spanish and then in English.

Este año, los profesores han elegido Zaragoza, una linda ciudad en Aragón, al noreste de España, como destino del viaje de lenguas  . El viaje en avión duró dos horas y media , fue un paseo suave con una mínima demora. Aterrizamos en Barcelona, donde tomamos un tren en dirección a  Zaragoza. Cuando llegamos al hotel (Hotel Sauce) en el centro del ciudad en autobús privado estábamos , por supuesto, cansados. Aunque exhaustos, no tuvimos ni idea de qué diversión nos esperaba.

El primer día, fuimos a un Instituto, llamado IES Luis Buñuel, donde conocimos  a los estudiantes a los que habíamos enviado un correo electrónico antes en clase de español. Ellos también nos enseñaron  cómo se puede cocinar tu propia comida española. Ellos eran ciertamente de verdad simpáticos y divertidos, éramos extraños, ahora menos. También, por la tarde, visitamos diferentes monumentos aragoneses, como el Museo del pintor Goya.  

El  segundo día fue  uno de mis días favoritos  allí, lo más destacado de este día fue el senderismo en la naturaleza. El día empezó con el desayuno al hotel alrededor de las  ocho, después, viajamos a Alquézar en autobús donde el ascenso tuvo lugar. Si no te has dado cuenta , es importante saber que la mayoría de comida estaría pagado para el dinero que daste al escuela, entonces no tiene que traer mucho dinero contigo.

El tercer día  fue relajado, pudimos dormir más y  en la ciudad. Tomamos un clase de cocina tradicional aragonés, que nos divertimos mucho, además del cocino, se vale la satisfacción que obtienes de tu propia creación, creo me. 

El último día fueun poco triste, porque después todo lo que hicimos , la escuela nos  esperaba. Además de eso, echaremos de menos al grupo , y las personas que conocimos, nuestros nuevos amigos. El lado bueno es que, vimos Barcelona y sus bellezas culturales. Hay un truco especial de hacer un viaje internacional con un grupo de personas, si los conoces o no, está destinado a ser divertido.

This year, the Spanish teachers chose Zaragoza, a cute city in Aragon, Spain, as the language trip’s destination. The trip took about two 1/2 hours and was a smooth passage with minimal delay. We landed in Barcelona, where we took a train going direction Zaragoza. When we arrived at the hotel – Hotel Sauce –  which was in the center of the city, we were tired. I have to admit that we had no idea what kind of fun was coming our way.

On the first day, we went to a high school called IES Luis Buñuel, where we met the students who we had previously sent an email to in Spanish lessons. It was weird at first, but it wasn’t too awkward. They also taught us how to cook  Spanish food, which could come in handy. They were really nice and fun.  We were at first strangers, but now a little less so. I even danced with them which was low-key pretty awkward, but still fun. Also, for the evening, we visited many different Aragon-originating monuments, like the Goya Museum.   

The second day was probably one of my favorite days there. The highlight was for sure the hiking we did in a hilly-natural environment. We started the day with breakfast at the hotel at around eight, then, we traveled to Alquézar where the hike took place.  The teachers bought most of the food for us so we did not need to carry money around with us or worry about having pickpockets on our tails.  

Day 3 we relaxed.  We could sleep as much as we wanted! We walked through the city and even took a cooking class! The cooking class was literally the best as when we were done, the satisfaction we got from our creations was genuinely amazing. We ate it, and yes NO one died! Some would say it’s a miracle.  

The third day was just a little, tiny, itsy bitsy sad because after all the fun we had just had, we knew school was waiting for us to return. Besides that, we had actually made friends with each other. On the bright side though, we visited Barcelona on the last day and enjoyed its cultural beauties and all. Honestly, I advise you to do a trip like this –  I really do. It’s fun and educational.

Leo W.’s account of the trip first in English and then in Spanish

We left Stockholm the second of May, on a flight headed for Barcelona. After a short flight, we hopped on the train bound for Zaragoza.

Zaragoza is a smaller city than Barcelona and Madrid but has an intriguing history and a true Spanish spirit. The city is situated in the region of Aragón, in northern Spain. Our hotel, Hotel Sauce, was located in the very center of the old district in Zaragoza, Only a few blocks away from most of Zaragoza’s scenic sights. The hotel was a lovely little house, and a well-run family business, with an open & friendly vibe.

On the first day of our trip, we visited a Spanish school, called IES Luis Buñuel. At IES Luis Buñuel, we received a tour of the school, and of how the Spanish students learned. We even got to join in on one of their cooking classes! 

Later that day, we went to see some beautiful historic sights, including the Aljafería Castle and the Goya Museum.

The following day, we traveled to Huesca, further north. There we walked through the Pasarelas del Vero,  a truly astonishing and mesmerizing sight. The pathway was steep, but not too difficult, and once we came down into the “Barranco” (valley), the steep path had definitely been worth it. 

However, we did not only explore the regional surroundings and old buildings, which can be typical for a language trip.  Later that day we watched a football match, which I think I can confidently say was one of the highlights of the trip.

For our final day in Zaragoza, we enjoyed the height of Spanish culture: sleeping in and Tapas.

The Spanish Trip 2019 was a wonderful trip, and I think that everyone will agree with me that we will remember this trip well, but we at the end we were looking forward to sleeping in our own beds again.

Salimos de Estocolmo el segundo de mayo, en un vuelo a Barcelona. Después de un corto vuelo, subimos al tren a Zaragoza.

Zaragoza es una ciudad más pequeña que Barcelona o Madrid, pero tiene una historia interesante y una cultura española. La ciudad está situada en la  región de Aragón, en el noreste de España. Nuestro hotel, el Hotel Sauce, estaba en el centro del casco antiguo de Zaragoza, a solo unas manzanas de la mayoría de los lugares de interés turístico de Zaragoza. El hotel era una casa pequeña y encantadora.

El primer día de nuestro viaje, visitamos una escuela de Español, llamada IES Luis Buñuel. En el IES Luis Buñuel, recibimos un recorrido por la escuela, y aprendimos de cómo aprenden  los estudiantes españoles. ¡Incluso nos unimos a una de sus clases de cocina! 

Más tarde ese día, fuimos a ver algunos hermosos lugares históricos, como el Castillo de la Aljafería y el Museo Goya en la ciudad.

Al día siguiente, viajamos a Huesca, más al norte. Allí caminamos por las Pasarelas del río Vero, con unas vistas muy bonitas. El camino era empinado, pero no demasiado difícil, y una vez que bajamos al barranco, el camino empinado definitivamente valió la pena. 

Sin embargo, en el viaje no solo exploramos el entorno regional y los edificios antiguos, que a veces pueden ser el estereotipo de un viaje de idiomas,  más tarde ese día pudimos asistir a un partido de fútbol, ​​que creo fue lo más destacado del viaje. 

Para nuestro último día en Zaragoza, disfrutamos de lo mejor de la cultura española: “dormir” y tapas.

El Viaje en español 2019 fue un viaje maravilloso, y creo que todos estarán de acuerdo conmigo en que recordaremos este viaje bien, pero todos estamos deseando volver a dormir en nuestras propias camas.
