WHAT IS MEDIEVAL ENGINEERS?

Medieval engineers is a building game based in the medieval times. The game focuses on medieval engineering and architecture. The player can build, create and design cities, towns, buildings, machinery and contraptions by using only technology that was available during the 5th-15th century.

Modes

Currently, only one mode is fully playable and that is the creative mode. In creative mode all of the game’s features are unlocked, this allows the player to engineer and construct freely.

Another mode that is available in the game but not fully implemented is survival mode. In survival mode, the player starts off with nothing and has to survive by gathering and extracting resources, crafting tools, mining and hunting. All resources such as ores will be located in geologically accurate locations. Many of the features mentioned are not available yet but are due to be added soon.

Multiplayer is another feature that is to be implemented once the game reaches later stages of development. In multiplayer you can play with other players, build cities together, destroy eachother’s creations, engage in siege battles, survive together, compete etc. The possibilities are limitless.

Current Features:

The games is centered around physics meaning that buildings and contraptions must follow realistic structural physics to stand or function. In other words buildings have to have realistic structure. For example, a tall structure without support will collapse under it’s own weight or a catapult not carefully constructed will not function as it should etc.

All buildings in the game are destructible. Destroy and watch as buildings crumple to pieces, all details are depicted as close to realistically as possible.

Engage in landscaping, build cities, castles, tunnels, bridges, mechanical devices etc.

All in game tools are tools that were used during 5th-15th century.  The game is historically accurate in it’s features and educational because the player can learn about medieval architecture, siege technology and structural engineering in general.

Players can share and download creations.

Pros and Cons

Since it in the earliest stage of development there are a lot of bugs and many unfinished features but the game is still very playable. To experience the full extent of the game’s visuals requires an above average computer however the game still runs fairly well on low end computers. At it’s current stage the game may get boring for those that want more than to just build, so for such players it is better  to wait until the game reaches a stage in which most of it’s features are available. The game is immersive and easy to get into, although to make things easier, it is good to read or watch building guides.
