The French Connection: SIS Welcomes French Exchange Students

The SIS Diploma Programme received seven charming exchange students from France from the 12 to the 15th of March. All seven were from Paris, and currently in ‘terminale’ which is the equivalent to our IB2 or 12th grade here at SIS.

The aim of the trip was primarily to develop their English skills. They followed the classes in English and said they understood most of the lessons. Here are a few of their thoughts about the visit:

“As far as I’m concerned, our school trip to Sweden was interesting and rewarding about the Swedish life. When we arrived the first day at SIS school, we felt very welcome.

The students of the school were really kind and very supportive of each other.

During this trip, we have met some extraordinary people, with who we want to stay in contact in the future. To conclude, I liked it so much, I would like to come back and stay longer!” – Lea

“I spent a good time in Stockholm. It is a very beautiful city. The school was great it is very different than ours with less students. The students who welcomed us and those from grade eleven where very kind.

Thank you very much for welcoming us.” – Claire

“From my point of view, SIS is an amazing school compared to ours (SJE), I love the system where you can almost do what you want when you want and the freedom of the students. In Sainte Jeanne Elizabeth we aren’t free like this, and although there is no uniform, the dress code isn’t as flexible.

The city is beautiful, I love those colors on the walls. The quality of life is so nice there, it is smaller and there are less people than in Paris; and it’s like you can trust every one of them! For example, at the Arlanda-express station of the airport, there is a screen inlaid in a wooden bench, we asked to a Swedish man for how long it has been there. He answered “2 years”; in France, this screen would have been stolen 3 days after it would have been launched !!” – Bastien

“We have just spent 5 days in Stockholm, the first day we were welcomed by the French class, Maud; the french teacher and the headmaster. After that we had two nice days in SIS discovering lot of different people from different origins and cultures which made us have a rich experience. We also visited the city with Youssef and Albandri, we found it really enjoyable! I would like to come back again to Stockholm to spend more time with my new friends and to learn more on the Swedish culture. Thanks to all students that welcomed us and I wish I will see SIS again!” – Guillaume
