Sometimes as Diploma Programme students, we tend to be caught up in our own classes, assignments and tests. I thought it was time to share some of the highlights of our younger students this term, as they partook in activities such as museum visits, exciting parkour, and interesting design classes!
Speaking with a student from Grade 6, Luke, he highlighted how wonderful he found his design class this term. He shared how he was able to create his dream house and rooms in 3D form, while keeping in mind sustainability. Another activity they did in design class was advertisements for NGOs. Luke particularly enjoyed creating an ad for WWF! Moreover, he is having fun with some exciting parkour in PHE class in KFUM.
Recently the Grade 10 went to the Kungliga Operan to attend the Nutcracker. At first it was an activity just for the Drama students, but that quickly changed and the whole grade joined their class to see the Swedish ballet version.
One of the students that attended the ballet, describes the event as “magical”. Even though she struggled to pick one favourite part, ultimately she decided that it was “when the mice entered the stage and messed with the orchestra. They even did sit ups! They also came back and one of the mice started doing the floss. It was hilarious “
The Grade 8 students embarked on a journey to find out the “Mystery of Banksy” on the 8th and 14th of November. This was a part of their English unit, but combined with their Art teachers to explore the different themes and genres.
Grade 7 was busy at work during the last week of school, especially in design class. Abhiram,George, Torsten and Kai all eagerly jumped to the occasion to showcase their bridges made of popsicle sticks, which they had tested in class using weights. While Abhiram’s bridge had a few cuts and bruises, he still thought that the whole thing was exciting, as he was anxious to see if his bridge would hold up.
Lastly, Antoine from Grade 9 excitedly shared that his favourite part of this term was secret santa, where he was lucky to receive a whole bag of candy. He thought it was “a very nice gift”. Further, he thoroughly enjoyed ice skating with his class during the last week of term, an experience he described to be “amazing”, especially because he could hang out with his friends.
