This is a student-led event to help raise funds for the SIS Nepal Project, which is committed to providing essential resources for the Shiladevi School in Nagarkot, Nepal. Each year, the Nepal Project dedicates 80,000 SEK to cover expenses such as uniforms (which are made locally), daily lunches for both students and staff, learning materials and internet access, and provide salaries for two teachers who would otherwise be volunteering.
Why Walk?
The Walk for Nepal is a chance for you to get active, socialize and contribute to a meaningful cause with your friends and family. The Nepal Project decided to host a Walk because one of the biggest challenges that students in the Nagarkot region face is the long journey to school. Some students have to walk up to 2 hours, each way, to attend classes.
Event Details:
Time: 10:00 – 13:00
Date: Saturday 14th of September 2024
Location: Humlegården’s Northwest corner
Dress code: Wear something RED and support the Nepal Project.
How To Participate:
To sign up for the event, please fill out this form by Friday, September 13th. You can also find more information about how to collect donations in this document. Anyone from our SIS Community can join, no matter how big or small. Whether you want to walk, run, or simply cheer for others, your involvement will make a difference!
Feel free to invite your friends and family to join the Walk and get them to sponsor your laps. That way, the more laps you walk/run, the more money you can raise for the cause. Once you have done your laps, you can send the money you have donated to the SIS Nepal Project, who will be there on site.
After the event, stay and celebrate with the rest of the community! You can buy some delicious fika or even better, buy a sustainable bag made by the Nepali community from the materials donated last year.
