On September 24th, while the rest of us were in bed, most of the 6th graders were still at school. They were having a sleepover! An in school, whole grade, sleepover.
The day started off with the students doing a field trip to Boda Borg Questing, where they did escape rooms. They returned to the school in the afternoon where they had a dinner of pizza and did lots of fun activities like, Karaoke, Minute to Win it, Ultimate Frisbee, Scavenger Hunt, and Board games, and some students even spent some time relaxing and reading. After these activities, they settled down to eat popcorn from a massive bag of popcorn bought directly from a movie theatre, and watch two great movies, Johnny English, and Legally Blonde.
After the movies, they set up classrooms on the third floor for the students to sleep in. The boys and girls were separated, and then they were even further separated into the students who would want to sleep, and the students who would want to stay up the whole night. In total there were 57 students separated into 9 different classrooms. In these classrooms they created forts using the tables and chairs, and they played Uno late into the night. In one of the girls’ rooms they all sat in a circle and spent the whole night chatting with each other, and in one of the boys rooms a student ended up throwing his shorts over the emergency exit light because it was too bright!
All in all the students had “loads of fun”, and greatly enjoyed this school experience, and talked about it with great enthusiasm and joy. A special thanks to the 6th graders, Harry L (6B), Oliver G. (6B), Olivia E. (6C), Aryani H. (6P), Astrid K.(6V), and Sean M. (6B) for letting me interview them about this experience, and to Ms. Gregg for setting up the interviews and providing me with the photos and information.
