Math prep is a math club run by Grade 11 students which aims to prepare grade 6-10 students for math competitions. These math competitions are AMC 10, Kangaroo math competition, and Purple comet. (Sign-ups for these competitions are still open. If any students are interested!).
Math prep has been running for a few weeks now and so far the students have been really enjoying our club. Every week we do 10-15 various math questions and occasionally some practice tests that challenge students and make them think. We also engage in interesting and productive math conversations and discussions.
However, signing up for a math competition is not necessary! If a student wants to mathematically challenge themselves, try out a harder form of maths, need some help on their math homework, or engage in interesting and productive math discussions they are welcome to join us whenever they wish to.
If you’re unsure whether or not to come and join us, this is not a binding contract! You can show up whenever you want to see what the club is like and what we do for yourself. The club will run throughout the whole school year, and next year will be handed over to the grade 10’s. So if you’re a grade 10 and interested in running it next year you can also come and get a feel for what our club does.
