On the afternoon of the 13th of December students, teachers, and parents went into the Aula and sit in their designated seats, the students were separated by grade, the teachers were off to the sides or sitting with the students, and the parents were up on the balconies. The St Lucia Day concert was about to start.
The concert started with a backstory on St. Lucia, who she was and why she is celebrated. Some students told
the backstory in the form of a play, dressing up as the important characters in the story.
When the play ended the lights went off, and voices could be heard singing from the back of the room. The 4-5 grade junior choir made their way down the middle of the Aula, they were all girls dressed in white, paired up, except for the girl in the front with the front girl who was leading them and wearing a candle headdress, she represents St Lucia.
After the choir finished singing the Senior choir and music ensemble made their way to the stage to sing, they sang four songs: “Tre Pepparkaksgubbar”, “Jul Jul”, “Tomtarnas Julnatt”, and finally “Tänd ett Ljus”.´
Afterwards a band formed by five 10th graders, The Confidentials, performed “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree”.
Then five 12th graders and one 10th grader performed “Volare”, a popular Italian song; the two singers were accompanied by a piano, violin, drums, and electric guitar.
Then the vocal enrichment group returned and sang “Talking to the Moon”, and even though there was a very loud microphone screech they continued on and kept singing.
The director of the school Ms. León then gave a speech where she thanked the teachers and parents, and wished all of us a good vacation.
Finally the vocal enrichment group returned to sing two more songs: “Nu Tändas Tusen Juleljus”, and, to finish the concert off in the Christmas spirit, “All I Want for Christmas is You”, one of the most famous and played Christmas songs every year.
