SIS MUN – UN Women’s Committee
At this year’s SIS-MUN the UN Women’s Committee is discussing the position of women in politics and leadership positions. The committee is dedicated to the empowerment of women and strives for gender equality.
The committee focuses on four strategic priorities to meet the Sustainable Development Goal, including:
- Women lead, participate in, and benefit equally from governance systems
- Women have income security, work and economic autonomy
- All women and girls live a life free from all forms of violence
- Women and girls contribute to and influence the building of sustainable peace and resilience, and benefit equally from the prevention of natural disasters and conflicts and humanitarian action

What obstacles do women face when assuming leadership and how can these be overcome?
What is the role of the media in portraying female leadership and political participation?
What can be done to promote women’s leadership and political participation?
