When in Need for a break from the Screen

The QQ addresses the stresses of being at home which is still a fact for the upper school. In doing so, we wish the middle and lower school luck in returning to school today.

It seems to be a misconception that we upper school students have an overflow with time these days. In fact, school work is proceeding as usual. However, we all need a break once in a while so we’ve compiled a list of things you could do. Did you see Mrs. Wegdell’s tips on ManageBac? The Quirky Quibbler decided to look into some of our favourites and add some more ideas that you will hopefully find enjoy doing.

Physical Activity

  1. Go for a walk

The weather has been very nice these last couple of days but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it will continue that way. Since it is getting colder we might be tempted to stay inside but taking a walk will give you fresh air and some energy. If you don’t have your own dog to go on a walk with, ask your neighbours!

     2. Stretch

For those of you who don’t do this regularly, this is a great opportunity to get started. Check out the Harvard Health Letter to find out about the benefits of stretching.

     3. Dance

Social distancing isn’t exactly making us happier. Dancing has proven to improve mode, act as a tool of therapeutic expression, social anxiety therapy and depression reduction. Release those endorphins with a quiet routine!

Baking

  1. Banana Bread

Have any brown bananas at home that are about to go bad? Make some banana bread! It’s delicious, you won’t regret it.

  1. Chocolate Muffins

Creativity

  1. Broaden your perspectives- read something you wouldn’t usually read
  2. Paint
  3. Reorganise your room

Things you need to do but may not want to

  1. Organise your google drive
  2. Clean your room
  3. Catch up on CAS/SA

Finally, FaceTime any relatives or friends, a friendly face will cheer you both up!
