With the holiday season fast approaching,  a group of 9th graders decided to host a winter market for primary school students. From the end of the school day at 15.30 up until 17.30, students and their parents had the opportunity to explore a market full of activities.

The stands consisted of food and drinks, games, face painting, and craft activities like ornament and bracelet making. The students seemed to love the bake sale with cupcakes, rice crispy treats, and many other snacks made by the SIS community. There was also a photo booth to capture the memories made at this student-led event.

The MYP students took the initiative of starting this event in collaboration with the SPC (SIS’ parent group) as a part of their service as action. With the support of teachers, Ms Gonzales, Ms Avery, and Mr Osler they were able to organise the event. The students created a coupon system for practicality and to avoid having young children handle money.

It was overall very well planned and can be considered a very successful event! The aim of this was not only for primary school students to have a festive celebration, but also to raise money for the Shiladevi school through the Nepal Project. This event alone raised 10,116 SEK which will most definitely have a large impact on the Nepalese students. It can doubtlessly be said that these students did an incredible job at hosting this event.
