Are you a French language B student? Are you interested in practising your French speaking skills? Do you want to boost your French Criterion C grades? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions this club might be for you.

As a CAS project, a few 11th graders, with the support of Ms Anzén, have started the ‘French Dejeuner Club’. We are a team of French-speaking MYP and DP students who are quite fluent in French and want to support students taking French B. We all come from many different backgrounds when it comes to our relationship with the French language; French parents, having lived in French-speaking countries, or simply learning it as a second language for a long time.

How we aim to develop students’ speaking and listening skills is through conversation. Talking about anything, from movies we’ve liked to what we did during the break, over lunch in a diverting way. This is an opportunity to learn many new words, work on structuring sentences, practice pronunciation, and gain many other important skills informally and casually with fellow students.

There were two meetings prior to the winter break and the conversation covered topics from penguins and the movie Happy Feet to different types of Cola in a game of hangman.

As we are a big group of students, we’ve decided to host the meetings in pairs once a week, either on Tuesdays or Wednesdays according to our schedules. If you are interested in joining, our first meetings after the break will be on Tuesday, January 16th and Tuesday, January 23rd in room 415.

We do hope this club helps you with your French whether you’re preparing for IB exams, MYP summatives, or simply want to learn French!
