Kinship through Multilingualism

This week we are celebrating International Mother Languages Day with a whole week of activities at SIS. In this article Multilingual Reporter, Noah, writes about why speaking more than one language is great.

French

Parler plusieurs langues différentes me permet de faire plusieurs choses.

English

Speaking several different languages allows me to do several things. First, it allows me to feel more comfortable when in a country where that language is spoken.  It also means I  feel much more kinship with others who speak my language, and vice versa. After all, speaking to someone in their native language often makes them feel a kinship with you, and lets them articulate themselves in a better manner. Lastly, and most importantly, it makes me feel like part of the global community, and the interconnected world that we live in today.
