Inspirational Poetry – Drowning in Silence

Grade 10 students have been inspired by the poetry of some famous poets. They have created beautiful poetry of their own. Over the next few weeks, we will publish the poems along with the titles of the poems that inspired them.

Drowning in Silence

‘Drowning in Silence’ inspired by Stevie Smith Not Waving but Drowning.

In deep waters, cries unheard,

Faces smiling, pain ignored.

Not waving, sinking below,

In silent depths, the hurt grows.

Misunderstood, lost in the sea,

Longing for someone to see.

On the shore, one hears,

The silent plea, the hidden fears

Drowning in silence, unseen,

Invisible struggles, unseen.
