As a way of aiding middle school students to get to know each other better, they were given a few days off regular classes during September to spend outside of Stockholm. These trips are designed to encourage socialising and building relationships among students. After weeks of anticipation, the grades 7 – 9 students headed off just before our September break. For many students, not only did this mark a break from the classroom learning, but it was also an opportunity to explore new places, forge new bonds, and create lasting memories. The middle schoolers embarked on a thrilling journey to destinations around Sweden, and a few days of fun and exciting activities.
The Grade 7s went to camp Vasterås where some brave students chose to go for a morning swim each day! The grade 8s went to Kalmar for the trip and the Grade 9s went to Örebro. .
Some of the activities included physical activities such as trampolining, parkour , go-karting, and Sky-rider.
Among other activities the middles schoolers were able to enjoy the thrill of zip-lining and participate in team-building activities such as football, golf, bowling and kayaking.
One of the highlights of the grade 9 trip was the Örebro castle ghost tour, where they listened to horror stories.
On the last day did an escape activity which was great fun.
Many of the students had very positive views and feelings about the trip and here are some of their words:
“Personally, all of the activities we had on this year’s trip were fun compared to the other years,” Yena C in 9B commented. “It is sad to say that our last grade trips are over now since from 10th grade and up they don’t have trips for the whole grade. It has been fun and great memories were made.”
“The trip was extremely fun because we got to stay in our own cabins and we had fun with our friends.” – Dhruv P.
The school trips were an exciting kickstart to the SIS year and hopefully, there will be more trips to come.
