DEIJ/JEDI CLUB – The Equality Club of SIS

At the QQ we love to hear from our younger writers. Grade 6 student, Luke K. is our junior reporter and in this article, he gives an overview of the DEIJ/JEDI club.

Who are we?

DEIJ stands for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice. We are a club that brainstorms ways to make this school more inclusive and equal for all of our students and teachers.

What is our goal?

Our goal at the DEIJ club, also known as the JEDI club,  is not only to make this school better but to also connect us all in a common place where everyone  can share  their  ideas about how to make our school community (and the wider world) a better place by emphasizing how important it is for equality among all people.  We hope that this group will benefit everyone in the school by spreading positive vibes. Our goal is to inspire SIS students to join this group and follow the path to equality.

Why do we do this?

  • To help others

All of us here at the JEDI  club want to be able take a step towards reducing inequality and make sure that all the students find a spot where they can make friends and know that we all fit in in our own way.

  • To help ourselves

This is a group where all are welcome and all are listened to and absolutely everybody is welcome. All ideas are acknowledged  and it is a great way  to make new friends.

Where are we?

We meet every Tuesday in room 312 during the lunch break for 6th and 7th  graders. You should see a poster with DEIJ club on it and a welcome sign so pop your head in if you are passing.  We will be sitting around a table and discussing our plans. Come and  join  us and share your   ideas about how to make this school more equal.

How can I join?

Come along to the meeting and ask Ms Eadon to add you to our google classroom.
