Zombie Apocalypse at Mini SISMUN!

Mini SISMUN is up and running for the second year in a row here at SIS. Mini MUN is an opportunity for the 6th and 7th graders to get involved with SISMUN in a comfortable and fun environment. This year the students are debating the topic of a Zombie Apocalypse! This is an exciting and fitting topic for the students to be able learn the basics of MUN.

The students have been split up into their normal classes, with a special committee for the WHO (World Health Organisation) as the topic of a zombie virus links very well to the issue of global health. They are discussing topics and question such as, “is it ethical to kill zombies since they are still people, ” as well as, “how do we handle this global situation of a zombie apocalypse?” In their classes and committees the students are working hard together, collaborating and debating, to try and reach a resolution to the problem. They are currently discussing the possibility for research grants for Zombie cures as well as debating whether or not it is good to take in refugees from Zombie infected countries.

We at the Quirky Quibbler met up with Mini SISMUN organisers Felix B. and Tess E. who say that so far the students have been very engaged and seem to be enjoying the topic very much! It is great to see the younger students being able to participate in an MUN styled debated and learn many new things through out the day. We also caught up with some of the 10th graders who are charing in the Mini SISMUN who told us that the conference, “is a really fun learning experience for us as Chair as well as for the 6th and 7th grade students. Its great to see all of them getting so involved with the topic.”

Another part of Mini SISMUN is that, at the end of the day, there will be three awards given out to the students. The first is a creativity award, an engagement award and a knowledge award. Mini SISMUN is in full swing and we are looking forward to see what happens at the end of the day!
