A Green Event: International Clean-up

QQ reporter Emry P. congratulates Roots and Shoots success during their clean-up
Bruno interviews SIS students at clean-up

On September 16 SIS’ own Roots and Shoots participated in the International Clean-up, an annual event striving to keep our world clean. Students from all different grades met at Humlegården and picked up trash all throughout the park. What brought them together? Their love for the environment.

Over the course of two hours, this dedicated group of students collected trash from all over the park, sorted it, and disposed of it properly. FIKA, bags, and gloves were all provided. All that was needed was a desire to better our local park. Altogether, over 10 bags of trash were collected and disposed of. With exciting participants and impressive improvement in the cleanliness of the park, this event was a rousing success!

Planned carefully by the members of Roots and Shoots the International Clean-up is just the start of their environmental mission. As the year progresses many more events and activities are to come from this group. We can expect this enthusiasm next year when International Clean-up day comes again. A wonderful opportunity for students all across SIS to participate in environment service, taking further steps to protect our planet. Look out for what this inspiring group has planned next.
