With Monday came the opening of June. With the opening of June, along with the first hints of summer and sunny days, came a brilliant talent show put together by student council president, Lorenzo A.
Hosted for middle school and having been planned out over months, Monday’s talent show was a roaring success that brought several spectacular performances up on stage.
The event’s opener was a beautiful performance of Skyfall by Annalena C. B. and an ensemble. After that, there were more stunning musical performances; Hugo M. performed a Dutch song, Nu Wij Niet Meer, on the piano. Vadim G. performed a creative original song, Ocean. Kashika D. followed with a melodic performance of Somewhere Only We Know. Joshua F. (from ISSR) was next with a breathtaking original score.
Next, an animated film made by Jingwen G. (Alvin) stopped the show. We saw more short films by Pranjal O. and Nicholas F., both of which were thought-provoking and emotional. The band Jaded, with members Emi, Yash, Emily, Liselot, and Vir performed a rendition of Somebody Told Me. Next, Malte sang Ed Sheeran’s Perfect, accompanied by skillful guitar playing. Julian played Mozart’s Rondo alla turca on piano spectacularly. Amelie W. followed by adeptly performing a traditional instrument from China. An outstanding piano cover of Nuvole Bianche by Yutong Z. was next, and the instrumental act continued with a rendition of Way Back Home on guitar by Seojun. Atia T. and Elvie P. wowed us with an energetic performance to Redred by Cortis, and Juel and Lulu demonstrated exceptional skill by performing to Dua Lipa’s Houdini. If there wasn’t enough variety in talent already, next came an acrobatic performance by Flo to Remedy by Leony. Finally, to close off this spectacular display, came another spectacular performance of Just, by the band Jaded.
Lots and lots of performances for a very vibrant and energetic audience in the Aula! Props to them, by the way; they were clapping along to every song, and cheering for every performance. Paintings, displaying our students’ artistic talent, lined the Aula, along with bake sales from both the Nepal group and Middle School Student Council.
What with all the incredible performances, it was hard for the judges to pick a winner. At the end of the day, though, they came through with a decision: Alvin was to take the crown for his marvelous short film! Congratulations Alvin!
All in all, a brilliant success of a show, and an enjoyable experience for all involved. Congratulations to all the performers for their incredible displays of talent, the audience for their immense support, and Lorenzo A. for organising the whole event!
