Then, the activities commenced. Two volleyball tournaments were played; one for grades 9-12, and one for 6-8. The athletic Air team took the overall first place – though Earth won the upper school tournament, well done! Siri B., house captain for Air, said she thought “it [the house afternoon]went really well, as a house captain the leadership team did an amazing job at putting this together. Everyone was stupendously jubilant!” Many highly dedicated students work hard to organise the House events and develop the House system. Now that you all know who your house leaders are, don’t be afraid to talk to them in the hallways, and ask any questions you may have!
In the aula, an open mic was organised. Some of SIS’ students showcased their talent, and following that, the aula was turned into our very own cinema, with Home Alone 2 playing for those who wanted to watch. The atrium hosted both chess and table tennis. In the lunch room gingerbread houses were built and decorated, and in various classrooms events like yoga, poetry, and holiday arts took place. House captain for Water, Victoria M, spoke about the event with great excitement: “Everyone was super happy to be participating, we saw people who never speak in class speak for the first time ever! I think we saw a big bond between the different ages and between the different houses and it was wonderful to see.”
Overall, Air house ended with the most points, congratulations! The House Leadership Team is overjoyed by the success of this event. It went better than expected, with more participation than what was hoped for. Does this mean more House events to come? There is only one clear and correct answer; absolutely!
