Organised by several hardworking students in the CAS exhibition committee, the event was a huge success, inviting the school community to connect over displays of the hard work done by our senior students. Drinks and snacks were served upon arrival in Norra Latin’s Aula, yet the spotlight was placed on the clearly and effectively situated individual stations. Table setups and posters, along with teachers, family, and younger students, especially those in the first year of the Diploma Programme, looking out for guidance and inspiration, filled the room.
Adarsh M., a grade 11 student, said, “[It was a] great experience…. I had a lot of fun.” He also remarked how inspiring the event was for students who will have to complete a project within the next year or so. The DP1 student confessed that he will likely model or take inspiration for his own CAS based on the ones he saw at the exhibition.
A popular station was Lukas C’s. He held a plank competition as an extension of his presentation; a project of 9 months of gym-training. After a one on one timed plank duel, the winner was rewarded with candy. Onlookers were not only entertained by watching their friends strain their muscles to the maximum of their ability, it also gave them the opportunity to ask questions, learn, and begin the thinking process of how to execute their future mandatory CAS project.
When asked what advice they have for those who have the journey of CAS in front of them, the common answers encourage students to start early, and to build their creativity, activity and service around topics and hobbies they enjoy. It is crucial to make the process as enjoyable as possible, at the same time as dealing with the weight of it being an IB requirement. Most importantly, a common motto was to not give up, even when encountering hardship; an important guiding statement for everyone in all contexts of life.
Not only was it informative and entertaining, it was a celebration of the accomplished and months-long hard work completed by the graduating class of 2026. It sure is a relief for them to enter the last stretch of needed CAS activity, as the projects crucially require an enormous amount of time and effort, clearly visible in the presentations.
Events like these connect the school community and serve an important purpose in demonstrating the challenges all students face and overcome during the years in the IB. Not only does it give recognition to the DP2 students’ quality work, but it portrays them as role models for those who are completing the MYP program and are fearing the terrifying Diploma Program they are about to endure, once again bringing the Stockholm International School community together. We are looking forward to attending future events to once again acknowledge the academic endeavours of students of our school. Congratulations Class of 2026, we wish you the best in the home stretch of completing the DP, continue with the hard work and make the most of these last few months of high school before you walk out the doors of SIS one last time.
