On Thursday, January 22nd, Harry Styles fans were surprised with an unusual YouTube video on the artist’s account, titled “Steve Kornacki Breaking News: Harry Styles Announces Together, Together”. With the first single of the album Aperture set to be released the following day at 1 am [CEST], fans opened it expecting a second single or potential music video, but to our surprise, it was something much, much more exciting- a “world” tour.
Now, why doesn’t the word “world” in the previous sentence follow the regular text format? While I wish it were some simple grammar or formatting mistake, it was unfortunately, intentional, and the emphasis was necessary. According to the Collins Dictionary “A tour is an organized trip that people such as musicians, politicians, or theatre companies go on to several different places, stopping to meet people or perform. […]”. The same dictionary also asserts that “The world is the planet that we live on. […]”, therefore implying that a world tour in this context is an organised trip that Styles goes on, to perform in several different places across the world. The official concert dates are densely situated in four continents and seven different cities; the “organised trip” in this case will have to be experienced by the fans and not the artist, who will need to travel across the globe to attend the gigs.
The United States is notoriously known amongst Harry Styles fans as Harry’s ‘home base’, the country he performed 88 shows in during his previous tour, ultimately contradicting the lyrics of his most popular song As It Was with over four billion streams on Spotify. Throughout the ‘non-North-American’ legs of Love On Tour fans enjoyed yelling “Leave America” back at Harry Styles, yet clearly that wasn’t enough. The newly announced “Together Together” tour has vividly portrayed its favouritism towards America, with 30 shows set to be played in one of New York’s most iconic arenas, Madison Square Garden. This created a forgotten sense of rage and fury within fans, who, after many years, had kindly forgiven the artist for playing 15 shows in the venue situated in Midtown Manhattan.
Six additional gigs are to be played in the Johan Cruyff Arena, Amsterdam, otherwise known as Ajax stadium, leaving Dutch fans in disbelief and feeling truly honoured that their country was carefully chosen. London’s most renowned stadium, Wembley, is greeting the British popstar for six nights at “the end of June” as his tune Watermelon Sugar states. After 12 nights in Europe, he flies halfway across the planet to São Paulo, Brazil, for the very short duration of two nights in mid July. South American fans, famously known for their abnormally loud chants, incredible crowds, and high ticket demands, are aware that this is going to be the most challenging “Ticketmaster war” they will ever endure. On his way back to his favourite city, NYC, Styles makes a stop in Mexico City for two nights while accompanied by Jorja Smith, one of the many special guests brought on tour.
Harryween is a special tradition for the fans, where Harry Styles wears costumes while performing. In the previous years, Dorothy Gale, a Gucci-inspired clown, and Danny Zuko were all spotted on stage on October 30th and 31st- no one ever looks past these special dates. This year, Styles will inevitably answer his own question, “Did you dress up for Halloween?” from the metaphorical masterpiece Little Freak with a yes. A clear preference for New York is once again depicted through the chosen city hosting our dear Harry on this spooky holiday. After completing this show, he’s ‘Leaving America’, potentially, for once and for all. Australia is the last stop of the “Together Together” tour, where two cities will be celebrating Harry’s reappearance, Melbourne and Sydney, for a grand total of four nights.
Though many fans located across the world are experiencing severe disappointment, in a recent interview, the pop icon was asked whether or not he is considering an extension of this tour, and his immediate reaction said it all. An open smile was seen on his face, creating excitement within fans, an emotion we had all forgotten or felt bereft of. During this interview, he shared that the idea or thought was on his mind, but that as of now, his main focuses were the current dates in 2026. Styles wishes to work ‘year by year’ and isn’t planning on adding dates for the rest of this one. So to the fans experiencing concert depression, severe F.O.M.O., or living in the remaining 97% of the world, trust me when I say that 2027 will be our year, hopefully…
