While the higher grades are discussing the SISMUN topics of 2024, grades 6-7 are participating in Mini-MUN – Our Planet. The delegates sit in anticipation as the chairs introduce themselves. Plaquecards are being set up, and final notes are being prepared. The delegates start with an icebreaker, and any initial tension wears off as a heated mock debate begins on whether pineapple belongs on pizza.

— Australian Delegate

“We shouldn’t have pineapple on pizza, because it is a disrespect to Italy,”said the delegate of Australia. They were quickly backed up by China on this issue.

The delegate of South Africa countered by fiercely stating, “That some people like it.”

Having learned the basics of Mini-MUN, the 6th graders begin to discuss the state of the planet – frozen beauty.

Love this! Especially the topic. Now more than ever we should allow humanity to decide for themselves whether they prefer pineapple on pizza or not. 😃
