Crisis at Norra Latin during SISMUN

Crisis at Norra Latin during SISMUN

The MUN adventure continued for one more day after SISMUN. On Saturday the 3rd of February the DP MUN team hosted a conference for the enrichment students from Grade 7 to Grade 10. The topic was the Restoration of Artifacts to their Country of Origin… At least that was what the topic was supposed to be.  The highlight of the conference for many delegates was when one of the 12th grade organizers came running down the halls of Norra Latin to say there has been a crisis in Panama and that the topic of the conference would change.

Some of the delegates’ first impressions when she came running down the hall was that there was a fire in the building. Luckily there was no fire and the event was a fictional earthquake in Panama. Some delegates were excited to discuss a new topic while others were disappointed that they weren’t able to debate their resolutions that they put hours into. Nevertheless the conference moved on, not without its funny moments such as the reading of the gossip box or when the delegation of Pakistan said in a point of information to Panama, “This is gaslighting” or when the delegation of Mexico used a house and mansion analogy to further explain his point.

The conference ended with a farewell to the 12th graders who have organized SISMUN and this being their last MUN conference at SIS.
