Chairs for the water sanitation

During the opening statements of the water and sanitation committee, Nigeria’s delegation created tension in the room. Nigeria’s representative was reprimanded for speaking over the limit of time. Italy’s delegates tried to come to his rescue stating, “Italy is an advocate for the freedom of speech”, but Italy’s brave advocacy was shut down by the chairs that had to remind the delegates about the 2 minute limit for opening statements.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh encouraged the committee to think about the 7000 transactional companies in Dhaka to be held responsible for polluting their drinking water.

More to come as India, Japan and France will also be having their opening speeches soon.
